About the Artists


Katie Baldwin teaches at the University of Alabama in Huntsville. She is one of seven international artists selected in 2004 to learn Japanese woodblock printing in Nagasawa Residency in Japan. - katieameliabaldwin.com

Annie Bissett was a freelance illustrator who later studied Moku Hanga and now practices and teaches the artform. Residing in Rhode Island, Bissett addresses social and environmental concerns in her work. - anniebissett.com

Jennifer Mack-Watkins was born in Charleston, South Carolina and now lives and works between New York and New Jersey. Mack-Watkins explores the complexity of being a woman, beauty, relationships, power, and gender roles. - jennifermack.com

Julie Shelton Snyder is a painter and printmaker based in Santa Fe, New Mexico who views her studio practice as a part of her spiritual practice. - juliesheltonsnyder.com

Richard Stockham, a former lawyer, is a member or PaperWorkers Local. Stockham studied Moku Hanga in Vancouver in 2000 through 2001. His includes themes of social commentary and Alabama's natural beauty.

PaperWorkers Local will participate in the Sakura (Cherry Blossom) Festival at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens on March 16th from 10am - 4pm, doing demos and encouraging the public to try Moku Hanga printing.
