Upcoming Workshops
Workshop Policy: Participants must arrive on time. Classes begin at 10am, after 10:30am no-shows are considered a cancellation without refund. Late arrivals cause disruption and ask too much of the teacher to re-teach concepts already covered. If you need to cancel your spot in the class, please give two weeks notice. No refunds for less than two weeks notice.
The Screen Printing Basics - Color Separations
with Michael Johnson
When: Saturday April 5th 10am-12pm, & Sunday April 6th, 10 am- 4 pm
Fee: $125
Join us for a two-day workshop where you'll learn the fundamentals of screen printing from start to finish.
Day 1: You'll begin by creating a handmade positive transparency using sheets of acetate to separate your colors. Then, you'll coat your screens with emulsion, which will dry overnight in preparation for printing.
Day 2: You'll expose your screen, wash out your image, and print your design using a simple acetate registration method. By the end of the workshop, you'll have your own handmade, multicolor screen prints!
What to Bring:
You'll need to bring paint pens and paper for your prints. Stonehenge paper is recommended, as it's designed for screen printing, but any smooth, wet-medium paper will work. Paper can be any size up to 18” x 24”.
If you have your own squeegee I would recommend bringing it. PaperWorkers will supply the screens, emulsion, acetate, and the shop screen-printing supplies (Squeegees, exposure unit, washout booth, and printing stations)
You are free to use the speedball screen printing inks we have in the shop, but if you would like a specific color I would recommend purchasing your own.
This workshop is perfect for beginners and creatives looking to explore the art of screen printing in a hands-on, approachable way.
Saturday April 5th 10am-12pm, & Sunday April 6th, 10 am- 4 pm. $125
If this is your first workshop, please submit the workshop participant form.
