Working predominantly as a printmaker, artist Irasema Quezada has been able to contribute her take on themes regarding mental health, immigration, and social justice through her practice. Irasema, who was born in north Mexico but was raised in Alabama, takes influences from her life experiences, including living as an undocumented immigrant, losing both her siblings, and struggling with her mental health. She received her BFA from UAB, and her MFA from The University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. She regularly teaches workshops and lectures on her research in book arts, letterpress printing, hand papermaking, and graphic design.
Following the opening reception, the exhibition can be seen during our regular gallery hours on Saturdays from noon to 4pm. The show closes on October 28, 2023.
